Members of the MOAA Lowcountry Chapter handing out flags to our future patriots on Bay Street on Veterans Day. The chief flag wavers back in the shadows are Bob Pearson, Fred Channels, Frank Gibson, Miles Montgomery, Mike Akey, Rich Baker, and  Rob “Boom Boom” Bridgers and  a friend of the chapter.




The Grand Strand chapter in South Carolina members conduct a second of three annual stand downs in and around Myrtle Beach, giving out food, clothing, gift cards, boots, sleeping bags, blankets, and more to over 200 homeless and transient veterans.




Grand Strand Chapter member, Chief Harold "Buster" Hatcher, retired Army Chief Warrant Officer, triple purple heart recipient, and Chief of the Waccamaw Indian people.




Cadet Command Chief Master Sergeant Joseph Moon, a
third-year cadet at Southside High School's SC-955
AFJROTC, has been awarded by MAJ (Ret) Melanie
Stewart of the MOAA Greenville Chapter. Cadet Moon holds the top enlisted
position in the corps, responsible for the care and training of
every enlisted cadet. Additionally, he is an active member of
the Color Guard and has participated in over 20 events.




Each Year, the Grand Strand MOAA Chapter sponsors a golf tournament that raises approximately $20,000 for JROTC Scholarships and various other outreach activities.

Grandson of COL (ret) retired Don Rinzel, Eric Rinzel, receiving one of two scholarships provided by the Columbia Chapter, 12 December 2024. The second scholarship went to Mackenzie Hanna, daughter of Chapter member, LTC (ret) Katie Hanna.

Grand Strand Chapter of MOAA awards $2500 scholarships to four graduating high school Junior ROTC cadets. This is the 17th year of the Chapter's scholarship program.

The Grand Strand participates in the annual PauWau ceremonies hosted by chief Buster Hatcher, and the Waccamaw Indian tribe at the tribal grounds in Aynor, South Carolina.
