The September meeting guest speaker was retired US Army Colonel Sam Boone, National Chaplain and he is the president of the Columbia Chapter of MOAA. He discussed the 3 big issues national MOAA is working to get passed into law. These are Toxic Exposure, Tricare for young adults from 22 to 26 YOA and finally a Hunger payment for junior service members to help feed their families and not have to use food banks for help. He also discussed how the renovation of MOAA National HQ was really a major upgrade for all the new technology. He also described efforts to pass bills in SC to make military retirement tax exempt and a bill to provide $100.00 to Honor Guard providing honors at Veterans funerals.
