      Surviving Spouse Rep
      Marilyn Janosko CPT USA Former

Council Surviving Spouse Liaison, Marilyn Janosko, served as an active-duty Adjutant General Corps Officer for 5 years with an additional 5 years in the US Army Ready Reserves. While married to a career Army officer, Marilyn served as a Family Support Groups Leader helping with benefits, child care, health care, school, financial, and legal issues when spouses were deployed and at home.

While serving as the Hilton Head Chapter Surviving Spouse Liaison, Marilyn in February 2023 accepted the South Carolina State Council Surviving Spouse Liaison position. She has worked closely with the MOAA National Board of Directors Surviving Spouse Liaison, to coordinating detailed plans. Marilyn is extremely dedicated reaching out to contacted every South Carolina chapter president and surviving spouse liaison with her commitment to provide assistance 24/7 and to communicate proactive survivor benefits information. She also provides every SC chapter the information on their county Veterans Affairs Office, which assists surviving spouses in applying for federal, VA, and state benefits; obtaining life insurance payments; coordinating funeral arrangements; completing the MOAA Taps form, and applying for National Life Membership. She became a member of the Surviving Spouse Virtual Chapter and provided chapter surviving spouse liaison officers the link to MOAA Surviving Spouse publications, thus enabling chapter members to proactively develop their own action plan ahead of a spouse’s death. Marilyn was in Washington to support the Advocacy in Action 2023 mission, provided Surviving Spouse Liaison updates from MOAA National, and distributed resource packets to chapter presidents at the State Conference. Additionally, she provides Surviving Spouse Liaisons information for chapter newsletters.
