2023 MOAA Medal was awarded to Emily Daniel.

I awarded the MOAA Medal and Certificate at the TL Hanna HS Naval JROTC Awards Ceremony on Thursday, 11 May. The program was well attended and very professional.  A Change of Command ceremony preceeded the awards presentation.  The unit is lead by CAPT John 'Skip' Lussier, USN (Ret).  There were 19 presenters and 29 individual awards which included 5 scholarship awards. The most impressive was a college scholarship to the Virginia Military Institute (VMI).  

The recipient of the MOAA Medal was Emily Daniel.  Emily is a rising senior and will be promoted to Chief Petty Officer (CPO) in her senior year.  Her specialty is administration because she was put to work for the entire awards program announcing the presenters and the award recipients.  When she graduates she has her heart set on attending the University of South Carolina and eventually be in the Naval Reserve. 

The final presenter was Mr. Walter Mayfield, TL Hanna HS principal.  He did a recap of the unit competition awards that were won during the past year, congratulated the entire class, and announced that the school will have a banner year of new JROTC recruits next semester.
